Shelly's Modeling Agencies and the National Dental Association are addressing needs and helping you to reach milestones. The good news is that, in cities and rural areas across America, millions of children and their families have learned about critical steps that they can take to establish and maintain good oral health. The bad news is that figures from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention indicate that the percentage of Americans with untreated tooth decay began rising this decade, and in these uncertain economic times, job layoffs, loss of benefits, and high co-pays are putting regular visits to the dentists out of reach for far too many families.

Addressing Needs: Shelly's Modeling Agencies sponsor Colgate launched the 100 Million Smiles campaign in 2002 to combat the silent epidemic of oral health disease outlined by former U.S. Surgeon General in the Oral Health in America report. Working in cooperation with early childhood and health educators, the National Dental Association multicultural experts and community organizations, Colgate's Bright Smiles, Bright Futures national education program provides children and their families with the knowledge and skills to take control of their oral health. It oversees cross curricular educational initiatives as well as a network of mobile dental vans that set up clinics in target areas and at cultural events across the United
States.
